Welcome to Batesville

Welcome to historic Batesville, Arkansas. This charming town is home to loving people, captivating scenery and engaging opportunities. We are nestled in the foothills of the Ozarks with the beautiful White River running at our border.

Over 190 years ago, Batesville was established next to the White River for fishing, boating, floating, wildlife, photography and scenery. Every year we celebrate our connection to it with the White River Water Carnival, a fun event that the whole family can enjoy!

For history buffs, the Old Independence Regional Museum takes you back in time with their exhibits, archives, and permanent collections. Their programs realistically show how people lived in Batesville long ago. Family Day events offer blacksmithing, candle-making and butter churning exhibitions. You can also shop for unique, handcrafted gifts made by local artisans.

Main Street Batesville runs through the historic homes of downtown. Home to local businesses, they sponsor several promotional events throughout the year that feature live entertainment and later business hours for our residents to enjoy. It is a great way to engage the community and create bonds of mutual helpfulness.

Mark Martin, a Batesville native, grew his passion for speed at the Batesville Motor Speedway. Here you can get some excitement on Saturday nights from April through September. After becoming a NASCAR legend, Martin opened the Mark Martin NASCAR Museum that houses his collection of cars, uniforms, trophies and other memorabilia and is open to the public for no charge.

The Scottish Fest hosted by Lyon College is an annual event in April that offers concerts, sporting events, art exhibits, a hiking and biking trail, a disc golf course and even fried oreos.

If you’re looking for a relaxation destination, look no further than The Course at Eagle Mountain. This natural state golf course offers even the most seasoned golf enthusiast a challenge with quiet serenity not found in larger cities.

From the historic homes that line Main Street, to the banks of the White River, Batesville has something for every member of your family. Whether you are visiting for business or pleasure, or are thinking of becoming a part of our community, you are sure to fall in love with Batesville, just as we have.
